MS-13 Gang Member Busted in Florida: How a Routine Stop Led to a Major Arrest
ICE Arrests MS-13 Gang Member in Florida Multiagency Operation
PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - It wasn't just another traffic stop in Florida this week. What started as a routine check by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) quickly turned into a high-stakes capture of a confirmed MS-13 gang member who had been living right under the radar in Palm Beach County.

Who is the Suspect?

The man in custody is Luis Merary Peralta-Sevilla, a 35-year-old Honduran national. Here’s the kicker: Peralta-Sevilla isn't new to the U.S. border system. He actually slipped into the country back in July 2013 through the Rio Grande Valley in Texas.

Even though he admitted to being in the U.S. illegally back then, a Department of Justice judge handed him a bond, letting him walk free while "pending removal proceedings." Fast forward over a decade, and he was still here-until now.

The Takedown: A Team Effort

This wasn't a solo act. ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) teamed up with:
  • Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office
  • Florida Highway Patrol (FHP)
  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
Director Todd M. Lyons didn't mince words, calling MS-13 a "designated foreign terrorist organization." He confirmed that Peralta-Sevilla is now locked up and won't be getting out easily this time.

Why was he stopped?

Interestingly, it was a simple license violation that triggered the whole thing. Florida police pulled him over for driving without a valid license and ended up seizing his vehicle. It was during this process that his violent gang ties came to light.

What’s Next?

Currently, the suspect is sitting in the Palm Beach County Jail. While his next court date was originally a long way off—April 2027 to be exact—ICE is now moving fast to get him out of the country for good.
